The Beaver Lever is a quieter, safer alternative to a hatchet at the campground.
At its inception, we thought The Beaver Lever Kindling Cutter was going to primarily be an indoor kindling splitting tool. Very early on, we were pleasantly surprised when many of our customers began buying them for their trailer and RVs!
We have heard first-hand a variety of reasons for this:
Portable
The Beaver Lever folds neatly and the blade can be secured with the sharp edge buried. It packs nicely and it sets up quickly on a flat surface like a picnic table bench.
Safe
While we fully recognize that an axe or hatchet is a mainstay of any camping tool collection, The Beaver Lever offers an option for people who may not be comfortable with a hatchet. Some have shared that they know people who really should not be using an axe or hatchet. Anectodotally, through conversations we have had with park rangers, axe and hatchet injuries rank high on the list of most common camper injuries!
